Road Trip

Went on a 700mile / 13 hour roadtrip yesterday. I left Baldwin at 8am, was in Ottumwa IA, by 2:30, loaded up the car we bought from Josh & Debora. I was back on the road by 4:30, and finally home by 11:10pm. It seamed to go really fast on the trip down, but from Ames IA to the Minnesota State line sure seamed to take forever. Since the car dolly was not " stable" enough to go 70mph, I decided I might as well take Hwy 63 the whole way down. Was a nice drive, but corn gets kind of boring after 5 hours... Once the car was loaded, I was able to go faster so I took Hwy 35.

Thanks again to J&D for selling us the car, My Dad for letting me use his truck, and to the neighbor who let me use the trailer. It sure beat trying to do that trip with Sam.

Alzheimer's Walk

Sam and I participated in the Alzheimer's walk this morning- sorry, no pictures of that- it was a little drippy and cool. We went over to my co-worker Rita's house afterwords with her daughter Kelly (& Vinnie) and their kids Tony (3) and Vanessa aka "Bo-Nessa" (9 months). Sam had a BLAST!!! Tony has a little battery-powered motorcycle that the kids took turns on...I see something like this in Sam's future! First Tony had to show Sam the ropes... As you can imagine, Sam stepped on the accelerator on his way off of the motorcycle... Oh, and Sam officially has five teeth now...

Mmm thanks for sharing your iced coffee mom!

Dude- there's nothing left!

We like caffeine! (there really wasn't anything left...)

Trying out Momma's shoes...

Not too much new...Scott's teaching of Hunter's Safety started tonight, so Sam and I were on our own. Hunter is currently upset about being outside, but the moon is full, so he can be out. Sam is sleeping. Here are some pictures.

The Zoo!!!!!

Penguins!

Kitty kitty?

Genuflecting giraffe, bow to your partner...is he doing the barnyard dance?

Try to look excited dad...

Who's more excited?!

I love the ducks!

Hang out at the zoo if you want to feel better about yourself!

I'm not listening!

Sweet baby orangutan! (I did spell check on that, but it doesn't seem right...)

Sam does this at home too...

Sorry about the view Sam! But you were doing so well in the stroller...

Sam was making "Kissy" noises to Cosmo through the window

Sam needed to make sound effects for the four-wheeler...

I have been waiting ALL summer for a good time to go to the zoo, and we finally had a weekend without plans, so I dragged Scott and Sam with me to the Como Zoo in St Paul MN. Can you guess who had the most fun? (Mom- did I really like the zoo when I was younger?) Scott and Sam were very patient with me and let me see all the animals- and Sam did awesome staying in his stroller the whole time- though from the pictures from his view, I think he'd appreciate the front-pack/back-pack next time...
We stopped by Grandma Diane's afterwards to visit Grandma and Uncle Eric and Sam still had energy to be cute- tough day's work!

"Sam's New Kitty"

With Josh Debora and Thomas moving to Germany soon, we took advantage of a weekend together and spending lots of time! We went to the Portage County fair (where I used to show animals... Got together with lots of Family and Friends on Sunday, and some of us (Scott & Josh) got enlisted into some manual labor to finish off the weekend ;)
We wish Josh and Debora and Thomas the best in Germany and can't wait to visit!!
